If you reached this page,

you’re probably curious to learn more about me

Hi, my name is Rony Rom

I was born and raised in Haifa, Israel (except for the 3 years we lived in New Jersey, NY in the early 90’s). Before becoming a Product Designer, I worked as an Optometrist (the person who checks your vision and tells you that you need glasses).

Why Product Design?

Technology, computers, and other geeky stuff is something I always had an affinity for. As the one who was always fixing things around, it was just a matter of time for me to leave my previous profession and find myself doing what I enjoy the most: coming up with simple techy solutions for daily struggles. I design pleasurable User Experiences, consistent User Interfaces, and smart interactions.

Currently...

...I'm working as a Product Designer at Lumiform. As the sole designer in the company, I have a direct impact on the SaaS product by crafting the behavior and the visual aspect of new and existing features. Before I joined Lumiform, I was teaching at Ironhack, Berlin where I helped aspiring UX/UI designers in their career journey by giving feedback and sharing my knowledge in design processes and tools.

What about coding?

Coding is not a terrifying word to me, and I enjoy doing frontend coding as a hobby using HTML and CSS, and a tiny bit of JavaScript. I find it interesting knowing how design can be implemented, it helps a lot in making design decisions. Besides, life is a lot easier at work when you speak the language of your fellow developers.

Why Berlin?

Well, I arrived not so long ago for studies and stayed because of a work opportunity. During this time I found out that I enjoy living in Berlin and generally in Europe. Even though Berlin is great, I'm open to relocate and discover new places.

Other things I like:

Traveling & hiking, photography, Crossfit, bouldering, cooking, baking & food in general.
